Before purchasing that shiny new cosmetic set, STOP and LOOK |
Makeup gift sets are perfect for gift giving and a great way to try new products or replenish your stash of beauty essentials.
BUT before you purchase a set for your favorite makeup enthusiast, STOP and LOOK for:
1) Quantity vs quality - many gift sets, especially those packaged for the holiday, will have lots of filler and may not be that exciting once opened. Always compare the content listing with the actual products inside the set.
2) Weight/volume of products - smaller travel sizes might end up costing more than full size products. If small sizes are not needed, your full size gift may the better gift selection.
3) Where the cosmetics are made - you do not want imitation or suspicious products. Did you know that many cosmetic products sold on-line are imitation products? The best way to verify your cosmetics are authentic, are to purchase directly from the cosmetic brand website or a trusted brand retailer.
4) Price - if it is too good to be true, it usually is. Ask yourself why and review this list.
A few months back, I felt like I NEEDED some new lipstick. I was in one of the fun discount stores that clearance name brand items, when I thought I found a "steal of a deal" lip set and made an impulse purchase. Well, as soon as I got home, buyer's remorse set in, when I turned over the package.
In store, I ignored the too low of a price on the tag and then I didn't even inspect where the product was made BEFORE purchase!
Don't make the same impetuous mistake, especially if you are giving the gift of cosmetics or skin care!
I would love to know what your favorite gift sets are!
Pay special attention to where cosmetics and skin care are manufactured! |
